Padburys

Padburys (in Guildford, not Padbury) was a bit out-of-the-way but a very enjoyable experience. The interior was of an older house, slightly done up but from federation days. Lots of older memorabilia on the walls, done in a crimson theme, with spindly farming farming equipment from a past era arranged around the main hall. We arrived to a fairly quiet but pleasant atmosphere.

I had a little trouble choosing, but settled on the gnocchi with broccolini, dried tomato and cherry tomatoes in a slightly creamy sauce. I do like gnocchi but not excessively creamy sauces, so this made me very happy. The cherry tomato and broccolini gave the dish a more earthy, homely feel than the traditional alfredo or ragu sauces I am used to, and I liked this difference. The gnocchi was soft, warm and tasty - I can't think of much more I could ask for. There was perhaps a little much parmesan cheese, as this was potentially overpowering. The serve was not excessive, although on the smaller side. Personally I preferred this, and did not leave feeling bloated.

I felt the price was quite fair, having an extremely good meal. Four and a half stars from me.
