Windsor Hotel

Apologies for the lack of blog posts, university has been incredibly stressful lately!

We had gone to the Windsor a while ago and we wanted to venture back to have our favourite dishes again. I had the duck maryland with lyonnaise potatoes, smoked bacon, greens, mustard vinaigrette. The duck was cooked perfectly, with two pieces of of good quality meat and just the right amount of fat to keep it juicy and tender, without being too oily/fatty. The greens was just a basic salad, but it broke the meal up without detracting from all of the intense flavours. However, my favourite part of the meal was definitely the lyonnaise potatoes which were combined with the bacon and mustard vinaigrette. The bacon and the mustard made the potatoes so zesty and helped with the meaty flavour of the duck. The portion size was also perfect, not too small but enough to be satisfying.

In terms of ambiance, don't expect too much if you are eating inside the restaurant section. It is usually packed with families/large groups. We had a hens party behind us that were obnoxiously loud, but luckily the food made me ignore this! I am also looking forward to it being warm enough to eat in the lovely section outside.

The prices were possibly a little high considering that it is connected to a pub, but the meals were definitely worth it!
