Soda Sun Lounge truly is a lounge overlooking the ocean. We parked in the shopping centre carpark and made our way up the stairs (Rebecca had been before). We were seated in low, soft chairs much like a lounge couch and we cuddled up in the cold night air. The room was warmly and low lit, a very romantic feel with red tints.
We weren't particularly enthused by anything on the menu so we settled for many small dishes, too many sadly. I chose the Duck tacos (somewhat hoping for Peking Duck pancakes). There were a few, roughly cut pieces of duck meat in a generous, citrus-tasting salad with cabbage and carrot and beansprouts (poorly topped and sorted mind you) which made me think of Yee Sang (鱼生).
The chorizo was fairly standard fare, what was expected. It was a little more peppery than normal, and had been grilled to the level of curling which is just right. The Sicilian olives were bitter, I didn't have many of these. I much prefer softer Spanish or failing that, Kalamata olives. My mixed greens were very generous, broccoli and asparagus and bok choy in an unusual mint oil.
Overall, I was pretty happy with Soda. We ordered a bit much, and I was a little disappointed by the olives. Three and a half stars.
